Play Fluther

Generative ambient synth

Fluther

Up to six voices play themselves in a scale you choose, each grown from a seed you roll. Each is a creature of light in deep water: drag it across to let it wander, or down to make it strange.

Fluther: four glowing creatures in dark blue water under shafts of light (a violet jellyfish, a comb jelly, a pink chain of bells and a pale moon jelly), with its tabs and tweak knobs around them.

What it does

Voices that play themselves

01

A creature for every voice

Tap a creature to hear its next note. Where it swims shapes its voice, and the scale keeps every note in key.

Fluther with the controls hidden: glowing creatures drift in dark blue water under shafts of light.
02

Seven knobs over everything

Swell, restless, tension, morph, space, tilt and colour each move every voice at once.

Four creatures near the top of the water, labelled friendly. An arrow runs down from each to the same creature lower down, ringed and labelled strange. One tweak knob, tension, turned right moves every voice together towards strange. There are seven knobs in all: swell, restless, tension, morph, space, tilt and colour.friendlystrangetension, turned rightevery voice moves towards strange togetherseven knobs, each moving every voice at once

An arc over hours

Set a shape and a length, from 10 minutes to 8 hours. Dusk thins the voices out and ends in silence.

Five rows of dots standing for five voices playing across time. On the left the rows are full of notes; moving right they thin out until nothing is left. The shape is dusk. An arrow along the bottom runs from start to silence, over a length you set from 10 minutes to 8 hours.duskfrom busy to silentstartsilence10 minutes to 8 hoursalso: drift, rise and fall, dawn, tide
