Privacy
Last updated 13 October 2026
The Tinkerhaus apps don't collect anything about you. There are no accounts, no ads and no tracking. This website counts visits without cookies and without knowing who you are. If you join the mailing list or email us, we keep your address for that and nothing else.
Who we are
Tinkerhaus is a trading name of TCHQ Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales (company number 17145128), registered office 24 Hove Park Road, Hove BN3 6LJ, UK. TCHQ Ltd is the data controller for the personal data described on this page.
For anything about your privacy, email support@tinkerhaus.xyz.
The apps
This covers the Tinkerhaus apps for iPhone and iPad, their Audio Unit (AUv3) plug-ins, and the versions you can play on this website.
- We don't collect personal data. The apps have no accounts, analytics, advertising or tracking, and no third-party code that does any of those things.
- Your presets, recordings and settings stay with you. They're saved on your device (in the web versions, in your browser's storage). Where an app offers iCloud sync, they're kept in your own iCloud account, which we can't see. Deleting the app, or clearing the site's data in your browser, deletes them.
- Microphone. Some apps can use the microphone or an audio input as a sound source. The sound is processed live on your device. It's only recorded if you choose to record it, the recording stays on your device, and nothing is ever sent to us. Your device asks your permission first, and you can turn it off at any time in Settings (or in your browser's site settings).
- Downloadable sounds. Where an app offers extra sound packs, Apple delivers them through the App Store, so we don't see who downloads them.
- Purchases. Purchases and subscriptions are handled by Apple. We receive sales totals, never your name or payment details. See Apple's privacy policy.
- Crash reports. If you've chosen to share analytics with app developers on your iPhone or iPad, Apple sends us anonymous crash reports and usage totals, which we use to fix bugs. You can turn this off in Settings › Privacy & Security › Analytics & Improvements › Share With App Developers.
This website
- Visit counts. We use PostHog in cookieless mode to see how many people visit and which pages they read. It sets no cookies, stores nothing on your device and doesn't identify you. It records the page, the page that linked to it, your browser and device type, and your approximate country. Your IP address isn't stored. The data is held in the EU.
- Why. Knowing which pages are useful helps us improve the site and the manuals. That's our legitimate interest under UK GDPR, and because the data doesn't identify you, it doesn't affect your privacy.
- Opting out. If your browser sends a Do Not Track signal, your visit isn't counted.
- Nothing else. No other cookies or trackers, no ads, and no embedded content from other sites. Fonts are served from this site.
The mailing list
If you sign up on the homepage, or for an app's TestFlight on its page, we keep your email address (and, for a TestFlight, which app) so we can tell you when an app reaches the App Store, a beta opens or a plug-in ships. We use it for nothing else. Sign-ups are collected by Formspree, which passes them to us.
We rely on your consent, which you give by signing up. Every email tells you how to unsubscribe, or you can email support@tinkerhaus.xyz. When you unsubscribe, we delete your address.
When you email us
If you write to support@tinkerhaus.xyz, we receive your email address and whatever you send, such as a description of a problem or a screenshot. We use it only to reply and to fix what you've reported, never for marketing. We keep the conversation for 2 years after your last message, then delete it. You can ask us to delete it sooner.
Who else handles data
We don't sell or share personal data. Three services process data on our behalf: PostHog (website visit counts), Formspree (mailing list sign-ups) and our email provider (support email and the mailing list). All three are bound by contracts that require them to protect it to at least the standard on this page and in UK data protection law. Where data is processed outside the UK, it's protected by the safeguards UK law requires. Apple handles purchases, downloads and crash reports under its own privacy policy.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law you can ask to see the personal data we hold about you, to correct or delete it, to restrict or object to how we use it, and to receive a copy of it. Email support@tinkerhaus.xyz and we'll reply within one month. In practice, the only personal data we're likely to hold is your email address, if you've joined the mailing list or written to us.
If you're unhappy with how we've handled your data, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113. We'd appreciate the chance to put it right first.
Changes
If this policy changes, we'll update this page and the date at the top. If an app starts handling data differently, we'll say so in its release notes too.
