Layered polysynth

Parallax

An expressive eight-voice polysynth inspired by the rich, deep sound of its ancestors. Shape sounds from ethereal to brutal with six dials.

Parallax on screen: amber and sage lines across a dark green scene, six dials above a touch keyboard with a chord held.

What it does

Eight voices, two layers each

01

Two layers in every voice

Every note sounds a clear layer and a soft one together, so one can pluck while the other swells. Each of the eight voices keeps a character of its own.

Parallax with the layers tab open on the left, glowing amber and sage lines across a dark green scene, the tweak and keys buttons, six dials and a touch keyboard along the bottom.
02

Six dials above the keys

Gravity, drift, flare, phase, halo and eclipse each move several settings at once: a sub, the filters, drive and the space. Turn them while you play.

A held chord drawn as three glowing lines. Gravity adds a thicker line an octave below them; halo is a pair of wide rings round the chord, for a wider, longer room; drift, flare, phase and eclipse sit round the edge and move the chord.halowider, in a longer roomgravitya sub an octave below each notedriftflarephaseeclipsedrift, flare, phase and eclipse move the held chord

Three rings

Drag a ring towards an edge and the sound changes with the direction. Drag it back to the middle to undo it.

The scene with the controls closed: eight glowing lines and three faint rings.
